Thandiani (Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa)

The literal meaning of the word Thandiani is “very cold” in the local language. It is the highest tourist point in the area of district Abbotabad of KPK at altitude of  2700m above sea level. Thandiani is on a little plateau land having coniferous flora in its vicinity.

It is accessible through a 31 kilometers long metaled road from Abbottabad. This drive takes almost 90 minutes and the tourists can observe magnificent scenery around them on the way. There is an ascent of almost 4,000 feet. While going to Thandiani hills, the famous town of Kalapani comes on the way.

Thandiani is one of the best sites for hikers, with its ascending pathways surrounded by lush green forest. Along with the beautiful surroundings, Thandiani offers many wonderful faunas and the species of Leopards, Flying Squirrels, Monkeys and Pheasants.

Thandiani, a hill station in the Galyat area, is located at the distance of 31 km from Abbottabad in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of 9,000 feet. Due to the snow-covered Pir Panjal Range in Azad Kashmir, the weather remains pleasant and cool in Thandiani throughout the year.

Thandiani is the highest tourist point in the area of Abbottabad, within the dense pine forests. It is full of magnificent scenery around with a pleasant atmosphere. It is the best and loving site for hikers and travelers. It is also the best place to explore wildlife especially insects, small animals, and birds in the surrounding areas. Leopards, flying squirrels, monkeys, and pheasants can easily be seen in Thandiani.
