Duikar

Duikar is the highest village at the altitude of 9,500 feet in Hunza valley and is located at the distance of 11 km from Karimabad. It is a very interesting point to visit due to its height and you will get a broader and panoramic view of high mountain peaks in front of you.

How to Access View Point

From the main Karakoram Highway, drive toward the steep and winding mountain road that leads to the highest point of the valley. After 15 to 20 minutes drive on the sharp steep trek, trek is emerged onto the high alpine plateau of Duikar. From here, you have to walk to cross the few of the local hotels to get yourself out the the open viewpoint slabs to get the complete 360-degree panoramic view. The viewpoints are located behind the Engle's Nest Hotel, where some of the rocks are eroded strangely in the shape of the eagle face. It is recommended to use 4x4 vehicle as trek is high-grade slop to reach on the height of 9,500 feet. It can also be accessed by enjoy the trekking trip in two hours.

Karakoram Giants Sunrise and Sunset Views

It is a place to view sunrise and sunset as you can see the first ray of sun touching the high peaks at sunrise here. You can also enjoy the view of the whole of the Hunza and Nagar valleys here. From the viewpoint, the peaks of Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, Ladyfinger, and Golden Peak can be seen clearly.

The view of Rakaposhi Peak on at elevation of 7,788 meters shows the massive southeast face of shining ice wall in the clear morning with with deep amber brilliant white light. The Ultar Sar peak on an elevation of 7,388 meters gives magnificent sunset view with deep pink colors late in the evening. Ladyfinger adjacent to Ultar Sar at an elevation of 6,000 meters shows shining vertical granite spire with reddish reflecting light at sunset. Golden Peak, also known as Spantik peak, on an elevation of 7,027 meters also gives orange color sunset view by reflecting glowing orange rays through its final ridge line. At the time of sunrise, it also gives the superb bright sunshine view.

About Gojal Upper Hunza

Gojal is the largest city in Baltistan next to Hunza, having a border with China and Afghanistan. It connects with China through the Khunjerab Pass and with Afghanistan through the Chapursan Valley. Gojal, also known as Upper Hunza, is the highest mountains area in the Karakoram and Pamir mountain ranges, at an average elevation of 4,000 meters.
