Ganda Singh Border
Ganda Singh Border is an international border between Pakistan and India in Ganda Singh Wala village. The border is now closed after the 1970 war between Pakistan and India, but tourists can visit to observe the flag-lowering ceremony on the border.
Accessing Ganda Singh Wala Border
The Ganda Singh Border is located at a distance of 12 km in the east of Kasur city. It can also easily accessed from Lahore via Ferozepur Road or Lahore-Kasur Road and Kasur Bypass. From main Ferozepur road, turns right toward the Ganda Singh Wala village. It is last village in the Pakistan side on the border and it connects with the village of Hussaini Wala in the Indian side.
Border Between Pakistan & India
Before the 1970 war between Pakistan and India, it was the main border crossing between India and Pakistan. Then, the Wagah border in Lahore was replaced as the main crossing between India and Pakistan.
Security Check Posts
There is a check post after the bridge over the BRB Canal. Visitors are only allowed from this check post after 5 PM in summer and 4 PM in winter season on Sundays only. There are several security checks before entering the final border gate to observe the parade. One must reach early to secure the proper seat in the gallery. Special VIP seats are only available for visitors having some proper protocol, a special permission from some high authorities.
After parking vehicle in the parking space, visitors have to walk half a kilometers to enter in arena of parade after passing through the security gates. There is no entry fee to observe the ceremony but one must have original CNIC or Passport for entry purpose. There is no restrictions on the photography there.
Parade and Flag Lowering Ceremony
Just on the border line between Pakistan and India, a Beating Retreat Border Ceremony is jointly organized at the border crossing since 1970. A well organized retreat parade is conducted by the Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Forces. At that time, border gates of both sides are opened. Parade is ended with flag-lowering ceremony on both sides.
