About Murree
Murree, an ideal and modern hill station, is situated on the Pir Panjal Range in Punjab at an altitude of 7,516 feet above sea level. It is located at a distance of 72 km from Rawalpindi through Islamabad-Murree Expressway - N75 and can be accessed easily from Rawalpindi and Muzzafarabad. It is the most famous and modern hill station in Pakistan.
A large number of tourists visit Murree every year especially in the winter season to enjoy the snowfalls. Murree is most famous hill station in Pakistan and mostly visited by families every year. The most attractive feature of Murree is the clouds, which are floating around us and gives us a feeling of moving on the clouds like fairies.
The most visiting place in Murree is Mall Road, where tourists enjoy evening walks and shopping. There are a number of shops, from where you can purchase gifts for your friends and relatives. People also enjoy delicious food from the restaurants over there. Murree Post Office is an attractive landmark on the Murree Mall.
The Murree Galliat region is collection of various Galliat and known for its landscape covered with pine and oak trees which create an amazing scenic beauty of the area. Murree is full of lush green trees and different kinds of plants due to heavy rain in the monsoon period. Murree gets the highest percentage of rainfall in Pakistan due to monsoon. From Kashmir Point on the Muzzafarabad side, one can see the snow-capped peaks of the Kashmir region in clear weather.
Patriata, at a distance of 15 km from Murree, is the main attraction of the town. It is the highest point in Murree. Cable Car is the main attraction in Patriata, people love to enjoy it and observe the scenic beauty of Murree from it. There is also a chairlift to enjoy the valley from the top of the hill.
Pindi Point, which is on the Rawalpindi side, has an attraction to get the broader view of Rawalpindi and Islamabad city from the Murree Hills. Tourists can enjoy the beautiful landscape of Islamabad city from there. You can see the modern landscape of Islamabad city from there.
It is the gateway to the other Galliats of the area, which are physically located in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, but mostly accessed through Murree. In which Ayubia and Nathia Gali are the most popular and beautiful locations in the Murree Galliat region. Natia Gali is the highest point in the Galliat region. Other Galliats are Donga Gali and Khaira Gali.
Murree was developed in the times of the British Regime. A number of churches are still located in the different parts of the Galliat area. It was an important resort in the time of British Rule over sub-continent. A water system was also developed by the British at that time to supply water to Murree and its surrounding Galliats. Two huge water tanks are still available in Donga Gali. One can observe those tanks while trekking toward Mukshpuri Top.
The most important attraction of the Galliat area is the various pipeline treks, which give beautiful scenic values as well as give a chance to study the wildlife in the area. These pipeline treks are covered with the lushgreen dense pine trees. The most famous treks are from Nathia Galli to Donga Galli and Donga Galli to Ayubia. These treks are much easy to cover, so families can also enjoy them without any special types of equipment. In the winter season, these treks give a chance to walk on the snow trek and gives a chance to observe valley covered with snow.
