Zankota Hills (Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa)

 

Kandow village is a beautiful village in Karak district on the foot of Zankota Hills. Thre are beautiful views of landscape yellowish grey mountains with touches of green plants. On the top of hill, one can get a bird eye view of Kandow village.

Karak is a district in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa at the distance of 139 km from Peshawar main city on Indus Highway N-55. Its landscape is composed of barren mountains but rich with natural minerals such as oil, gas, salt and uranium, etc.

Karak is situated in the foot of the barren Koh-e-Suleman Range. Most of the mountains in this range are barren and just few trees and weeds can be seen. Due to the flow to various tributaries of the Kurram River, there are number lush green fields which are suitable for cultivation of different crops.

Due to land structure of the Karak district, it is a homeland of varieties of reptiles living on land as well as in water. Snake and wild lizard are common.

In Karak, there are number of Kurram River tributories in which Tarkha Algada, Lawaghar Algada, and Changos Algad are important. These water streams is the main source of water in the district as well as use in irrigation purposes.

Karak has boundaries with Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Mianwali, districts. It is connected with the Indus Highway N-55 that runs from the center of the town.

Khattak tribe is one of the major inhabitants in Karak district. It is the only district in which the living people just belong to only Kattak tribe as compare to other districts of Pakistan where living population is mix of various tribes and castes.

Karak has largest number of mines in Pakistan, producing valuable natural resources in Pakistan. Oil, gas, and uranium are the most valuable resources found in the district. Karak is also famous for its salt mines.

Karak is also famous for high quality honey. Different varieties of honey are produced in various regions of Karak. There are number of shops selling honey in the district.

The weather of the Karak district is dry and hot in the summer season, whereas it becomes mild cool in the winter season.
