Hangu (Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa)
Hangu is located at the distance of 109 km from Peshawar via Kohat on Kohat-Hangu Road. It is located next to Kohat at the distance of 30 KM. It is a beautiful town with lush green mountains and valleys. Its name is due to some expected Chinese travelers as there is town in China with same name.
Hangu is bounded by Karak, Kohat, Kurram Agency, Orakzai, and Bannu districts. The Kohat-Hangu road is main roan running from the center of the district and used to access other small towns in the Hangu district.
The Jabi Toi River flows in the center of the district. It is a small river and drains itself in the Kohat Toi River in the same district. There are some other streams flowing in the district.
Thall is the tehsil of the Hangu district and it is the important trade center. Several traders from Kurram Agency, Afghanistan, and surrounding areas visit this bazaar for trade.
Tall Fort is a historical building constructed by the British in 1909. It is now the headquarters for Thall Scouts. There is also an ancient mosque, called as Thall mosque.
Wali Chena spring is a natural cold water spring, where people visit during hot weather and bathe there. It is also famous for picnics and for a full day enjoyment. A small forest, also known as Toor Koot, is also situated there, where people explore many adventures.
In Hungu district, there are several forests along the various streams and rivers. These forests are home for different wildlife as well as source of wood and herbs.
Naryab Dam is situated near Naryab village on a tributary of the Kurram River. It is also a good place for one-day picnic. Few restaurants and hotels are also available there. One can also enjoy boating facility in the lake of dam. From Thall-Hangu road, one has to take right turn on Naryab road to access this location of dam.
