Kachura Village Skardu

Kachura Village is the gateway to the twin lakes, Lower Kachura and Upper Kachura. It is a lush village with fruit orchards. From the main Gilgit-Skardu road, turn off on a trek shaded with lush fruit tree in the Kachura basin. There are several roadside trout fish farms, precious stone and gem shops, and wood carving stops.

Lush Organic Orchards

Kachura village on an elevation of 8,200 feet is full of lush green organic orchards of apricot, apple, cherry, walnut, and other fruits. In the beginning of April, the beautiful pink and white apricot blossoms across the village give magnificent view across the village. Whereas in Autumn season on the beginning of October month shows charming views of yellowish red-brown leaves of trees. In the month of July and August, the visitors can enjoy the fresh fruits of cherries and apricots.

Kachura Village Guesthouses & Camp Sites

In Kachura village, one can stay in affordable village guesthouses with natural atmosphere in a quiet and peaceful environment instead of noisy and commercial bazaar of Skardu. Camping sites are also available in the village for nature explorers and trekkers. It is also in the proximity of Skardu International Airport within 15 minutes drive. So, it is the best alternative to main Skardu city accommodations.

Lower Kachura Lake

Shangrila Lake, also known as Lower Kachura Lake, is located at the end of the Shagrila Resort road. It is a beautiful Aqua Green color color with the reflection of red-roofed cottages, Chinese-style pagoda restaurant, and famous converted airplane cafe. Lake is surrounded by lush orchards of fruit trees of apricot and cherry.

Upper Kachura Lake

After a short trek of 1.5 km through the organic apricot orchards in the Kachura village, there is a large size alpine lake known as the Upper Kachura Lake. One can enjoy the speedboating in the Upper Kachura. It is also a wonderful spot for trout fishing.
