Lalazar
Lalazar is a beautiful lush green meadow with colorful wildflowers within a pine forest. It is situated at the distance of 21 km from Naran at an elevation of 10,246 feet. It is accessible through the jeep available at Batakundi.
Batakundi - Starting the Lalazar Trek
Batakundi is located at the distance of 15 km from Naran. You have to park your own vehicles at Batakundi parking lots. Jeep are available here at the rate of 5000 to 8000. A rough and bumpy trek of 6 km long is started from Batakundi. There are several affordable hotels in Batakundi, so you have an option to stay at there instead of expensive huts in Naran.
Hiring Jeep for Lalazar Meadows
Before boarding in the jeep, you must have some eatables and water bottles in your backpack. Camping equipment are required if you are going to plan camping in the lush green meadows under the shades of pine trees. Most of the jeep track is inside the deep pine forest and it gives scenic views of pine trees. It is a narrow trek with sharp bends, so jeep journey would an exciting adventure. Be careful while using your camera in jeep, as it may be slipped with a sudden and quick jerk due to rising stone or inclined passage. It takes nearly 25 minutes to reach there by using jeep. Nearly before one kilometer, jeep track ends and you have to perform hiking for remaining steep part of the trek. It is steep but rather easy to ascend. On the trek, you observe the wider view of the surrounding landscapes and different scenic views of Lalazar meadows at distance. Finally, you are in lush green meadows with bright color wild flowers. The best time to get the beauty of meadows with wildflowers is from July to August.
Lush Green Lalazar Meadows
Lalazar meadows is large size and lush green plateau in front of range of mountains covered with pine trees. Pine trees behind the meadows make it more attractive for visitors. The rolling mounds with lush grass give a charming view of the meadows. There are few small restaurant, where you can enjoy tea or coffee. Colorful huts gives charming effect in the long green slides of the meadows. Visits use these huts to take rest and enjoy the memorable time there.
Night Stay in Lalazar
Lalazar meadows is a best place to stay for a night to observe the sky with shining stars. So you must need camp to enjoy all of these night wonders. Such sky with thousands of bright stars can never be observed in the dusty and polluted atmosphere of cities. For night stay, you must have worm clothes, sleeping bag, and extra water and eatables.
Saif-ul-Maluk Lake side Trek to Lalazar
There is an alternate trek from the Saif-ul-Maluk Lake side. You can reach at Saif-ul-Maluk lake by hiring jeep from Naran. From there, you have to perform a steep ascending trek by crossing a local mountain pass to access the Lalazar meadow. It takes nearly 5 hours to complete it. But this trek has medium level difficulty, so not recommended for beginner level trekkers. If you plan it, then you must have to hire a local guide. He will charge nearly 1500 to 2000 rupee.
Wildlife in Lalazar
The Lalazar trek and Lalazar meadows also provide an opportunity to observe wildlife there. But care must be required if you are looking at some wild animal. Don't make noise and relax yourself while observing them. At night stay, it would be better chance to observe some leopard or bear, so you must install your camp at safe place.
