Manshi Top

Manshi Top is a lush green plateau in the Sharan Forest at an elevation of 9,500 feet. It can be accessible through dense pine forest by using jeep. After jeep track, the real adventurous Manshi Top trek is started. It requires two to three hours to complete the trekking trail leads to Manshi Top.

>Manshi Top is lush green meadow and mountain peak in the Sharan forest having an average elevation above 9,000 feet. It is a set of lofty meadows and small ponds. Trek is easy to cover in summer season, whereas in winters it becomes difficult to trek due to heavy snow fall nearly above six feet.

Hiring Jeep for Manshi Top

Jeep can be hired from Kewai or Paras village on the main Kaghan road. Before boarding on the jeep, you must purchase required items, eatables, and water bottles. For Manshi Top trek, you must also equip with proper mountaineering shoes and hiking poles. Jeep takes one and a half hour through the dense pine forest to reach the planned destination in the Sharan Forest. It may be camping cabin or hotel rooms.

Manshi Top Trek

The Manshi Top trek is started where jeep ends its journey in the forest. Trek through the forest has defined path to Manshi top, so a guide must be required. You can hire a guide for your journey from the local hotel within 1000 to 2000 rupees. The initial part of trek is little bit difficult due to extreme inclined passage. Trek is in the dense forest, where sunrays seldom touch the earth surface. All of the passage provide scenic views of pine forest with a natural environment. After nearly one hour of trekking, trek becomes easy to ascend. It is the beginning of the meadow. There are several lush green mounds where multi-color flowers are grown. In summer season, you see grazing animal there. In the next episode of trekking, there are two or three extreme ascend and after crossing these finally the Manshi Top is in front of the trekkers. It takes two to three hours from Sharan Forest to access the Manshi Top. After getting the top, one can fall in love with charming atmosphere there and forgets all of the hardships in the passage.

Manshi Top Panoramic Views

Overall the trek difficulty is moderate, but it gives the wider and panoramic view of the surrounding peaks. One can get a clear view of the Makra Peak with Siri Paye meadow on the opposite side of the Manshi Top. Another attraction of the spot is the strong and heavy flow of wind coming from the opposite side due to openness. It makes the overall atmosphere cool and pleasant. One small tuck shop is available at top, where you can get tea and some sort of snacks or biscuits. Taking tea in the pleasant weather within the strong wind flow will be memorable event for your life. This event will become more exciting, if you are able to prepare tea yourself.

Manshi Top is lush green meadow with wider landscape. It also gives a splendid view of the Kaghan valley spreading on the both sides of the Kunhar River. One the other side of the Manshi Top, you can also get view of the Musa-Ka-Mussalla peak. This top is also the base camp for Musa-Ka-Mussalla peak. To the summit of Musa-Ka-Mussalla peak, would be more extreme level adventure for advance and experienced trekkers.

There is also a small seasonal pond of water for animal those are grazing over there in summer season. You can also see few wooden and mud huts, normally used by the seasonal shepherds to provide cover to animals and to use for storage purposes. Descending down is another challenge and due care is required on the inclined section while descending. There would be also chance of facing black bear and leopard in the dense forest trek while moving back, so it would be necessary to come back to your camp before sunset.

Camping at Manshi Top

If you plan to spend night on the top, then you must have your own water-proof camp. As strong wind is always flowing there, so you must install the camp at proper position to avoid pressure of strong wind.
