Rahimabad

Rahimabad is a beautiful and attractive hill station in the Gilgit district in Gilgit Baltistan on the right bank of Hunza River. It is located at the distance of 33km from Gilgit city on the Karakoram Highway in very high mountainous region. It is a lush green valley along the Hunza River and has a very pleasant atmosphere.

Its old name was Matumdass, meaning 'Dark Plain' in the Brushaski language. That name was due to its vast and wider plains. Another historical name of this settlement was Partab Singh Pura during the reign of Raja Partab Singh in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The recent name was given in the honor of Aga Khan V, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim in Pakistan.

Rahimabad is rich in local culture of Brushaski people having their ancestral roots back to Central Hunza. Local people are strongly associated with their specific dialects, heritage, and hospitality. To observe all of these traditional cultural heritage in Rahimabad, you have to continue on the Karakoram Highway straight from the Danyor toward Hunza.

Malchi is located at elevation of 400 meters in the highlands area with a natural spring and meadows. These meadows are well source of animal grazing in winter season. To get panoramic views of the Hunza River canyon below, trekkers love to hung on the slopes to reach in these highland meadows.

Rahimabad town is also famous for orchards to pick up fresh, locally grown seasonal cherries, apples, and apricots on the roadside. These forms and orchards are irrigated through water channels built over decades.

From Rahimabad, you can have stunning view of the Mt. Rakaposhi peak from the surrounding mountains of Rahimabad in clear weather.

About Nagar

Nagar district is located next to the Gilgit district in Gilgit Baltistan at an altitude of 8,822 feet on the Karakoram Highway. It was part of the Nagar-Hunza district, it is constituted as a separate district in July 2015. Nagar Khas is the major town and administrative headquarter of the Nagar district.

Rahimabad village is in the jurisdiction of Tehsil Danyore, District Gilgit. It is the Union council of Jagote Colony, Jutal, Rahimabad, Guro and Jaglote villages, situated at KKH and about 35KM from Gilgit city. It is 70% plane and 30% slope area, and a double cropping zone.
