Siri Paye Shogran

Siri Paye meadows is located at the altitude of 7,749 feet above the sea level on the steep slopes in the Kaghan Valley. It is a lush green and fantastic beautiful location on the foot of Makra Peak at the distance of 7 KM from Shogran.

Hiring Jeep for Siri-Paye Meadows

From Shogran, there is a unpaved and rough trek to access Siri-Paye meadows. You can hire 4x4 jeep from Shogran. You can hire fully private jeep, or pay for single seat. It takes 45 minutes to access siri Meadows by jeep. Trek passes from the dense pine forest and gives a unique experience of traveling in the mountainous region. Jeep trek is only available up to Siri meadows. The waiting time for jeep at Siri meadow is normally one to two hours, but for extra time you must talk them at booking time.

Horse Riding in Siri-Paye Meadows

After reaching Siri meadows, you can enjoy the refreshing tea in the lush green meadows. There is a small fresh water seasonal pond that gives the reflection of the surrounding peaks. Jeeps are only available up to Siri meadows. To access the Paye meadows, you can hire horse from Siri meadows. They can charge from 1000 to 2000 for a round trip. It takes 30 minutes to access Paye meadows on foot.

Paye plateau is larger than Siri meadows and composed of number of lush green rolling mounds with different color flowers. There is also a seasonal pond of water in the center of the Paye meadow. It gives a winder and panoramic look of surrounding mountains and also clear glimpse of Makra Peak.

Makra Peak Trek

Siri-Paye meadow is the base camp to access the summit of the Makra Peak at and elevation of 12,746 feet. It is moderate level high-altitude hiking trek beginning from the Paye meadows. Makra Peak is located at the border between Khyber PakhtunKhwa and Azad Kashmir. It takes 4 to 5 hours to reach the summit of Makra Peak and total of 6 to 8 hours are required for a roundtrip back to Siri-Paye meadows. It would be a fantastic experience of hiking with scenic views of Makra peak with mountain covered with the pine trees. A narrow trek started from the Paye meadows under the shades of pine trees, then ascending and difficult trek is started to get its summit finally. You can reduce the time by hiring horse to cover the initial part of the trek.

If you want to plan Makra Peak trek, then you must start your journey early around 5 to 6 AM. In this way, you can manage to get back before sunset in the same day, otherwise you could face some difficulties. it is also necessary to inform your jeep driver, if you plan to perform Makra Peak trek, otherwise they will charge extra money.

To perform Makra Peak trek, you must equip with good quality non-slippery shoes and hiking poles. It is recommended to avoid this trek in heavy cloudy or rainy weather. Care must be required in case of extreme airflow due to winder landscape of the Paye meadows.

Camping at Siri-Paye Meadows

There is no proper hotels at the Siri-Paye meadows, only camping option is available if you want to stay night over there while performing Makra Peak trek. While camping, you must have to purchase the required food and other items from Balakot.

Seasonal Ponds of Water in Siri-Paye Meadows

There are two beautiful seasonal ponds of water in Siri-Paye meadows. The pond in Siri meadow is smaller than the pond located in the center of the Paye meadow. Paye meadows also gives a charming view of animal grazing in lush green fields in summer season.
