Kasur is a city to south of Lahore. It is my home town and famous as a land of Baba Bulleh Shah. It has a peaceful and comfortable environment that is a wish for everybody to live in such a place. It is a place of friendly and lovely people, they always communicate with outsiders with a very polite manner. I love everything that belong with my city as it was my birth place. It is believed that city was named Kashawar along with its neighboring city Lahore, which was named Lahawar. Then it was transformed into Kasur.
There are number of famous places to visit in Kasur. Every tourist likes to visit these places due to their beauty and peaceful environment. The brief introduction of these places are as follow.
Baba Bulleh Shah Shrine
Baba Bulleh Shah was born in 1680. He is known for his brilliant Punjabi Sufi poetry that is famous in all over the world. His shrine is located near the railway road in the middle of Kasur City. The annual celebration is held in the last week of August every year.
Ganda Singh Border
Ganda Singh Border is located on the border between Pakistan and India about 18 km from the Kasur city. The flag-raising ceremony is held daily and public is allowed to attend the ceremony.
It is located on the Ravi River about 65 km in Southwest of Lahore. It is famous head-works that originates three different canals to irrigate the surrounding lands of Kasur and other districts.
Changa Manga Forest
It is a famous and largest artificial forest in Pakistan for the purpose of fulfilling timber needs. There is also a public park in the forest which attracts number of tourist from Kasur as well as Lahore.
It is located near Ferozpur Road in Kasur district. It have five different galleries of different artifacts related to the history of sub-continent.
Shrine of Shah Kamal Chishti
It is a famous tomb located on the main Ferozpur Road in the Kasur District. It is located on the small hill, you have to step up several steps to access the shrine building.
Kot Radha Kishan
It is a historical place located on a high hill. Its name is derived from Kishana and Radha, a Hindu goddess. One can see ruins of various Hindu temples as well as can observe culture and traditions of the past.
Food Street of Kasur
Kasur is famous for traditional food such as Falooda, Andrassy, and fried fish with Kasuri Methi. Food street is the one the main spot in the Kasur to enjoy all of these traditional foods.
