Shina Language spoken cities in Pakistan

Shina is local language, spoken in the following cities or towns in Pakistan.

It belongs to the group of Indo-Aryan language and is spoken by the Shina people. The Shina is the major ethnic groups living in the Gilgit-Baltistan and Indus Kohistan areas. It is one of the main languages spoken in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. More than 1.1 million people Shina language speakers live in Pakistan and India. It is a language spoken in the Upper Neelum Valley in Azad Kashmir in Pakistan, Kargil in Ladakh district in Indian-occupied Kashmir. It is also spoken in Hunza, Ghizer, Gilgit, Diamer, and Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan. It has no proper writing system yet.

    Astore is district in the Gilgit-Baltistan and located at an altitude of 8,500 feet on the eastern side of Mount Nanga Parbat, at the distance of 60 km from Gilgit main city. Astore region ascends from the Indus River from Jaglot in Diamer district. The valley is famous for different kinds of important medicinal plants and herbs. In summer, the colors of the valley become very much attractive due to various kinds of colorful flowers.

It is also accessible via Naran, Kaghan Valley, in less time by crossing Babusar Top.

  • Neelum Valley

    Neelum Valley, a bow-shaped thickly forested region, is the last district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan, located at the distance of 100 km from Muzzafarabad at an altitude of 5,299 feet. Its name is due to the Neelum River, flowing across the valley. Valley is divided among Pakistan and Indian held Kashmir, the LOC is normally moved along the Neelum River in this valley.
